F2 FIA Formula Two Championships 2009

The 2009 FIA Formula Two Championship was re-launched this year after 25 years to give young aspiring drivers the opportunity to compete in the highest tiers of motorsport which is a fairer, more affordable and most importantly a feeder series directly to Formula One.

In September 2008 Motor Sport Vision won the tender to supply the cars and operate the Championships to the series that saw drivers using a chassis built at the WilliamsF1 team's headquarters.

The Championships began in May at the Circuit de Valencia in Spain and ends in November at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain.

FIA President Max Mosley believes the recently re-launched Formula 2 Championship is designed as a feeder for Formula 1. After the first race in Valencia Mosley said, "I'm astonished at how successful the day has been, Jonathan Palmer and Williams have done an absolutely fantastic job."

With a capacity grid of 25 drivers from 15 countries the FIA Formula 2 Championship comprises of 16 races over 8 events throughout Europe.

Comtact Ltd, a leading provider of Telecoms and IT solutions are delighted to join forces with former formula 1 driver and MotorSport Vision Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer to sponsor son, Jolyon Palmer one of the youngest drivers on the 2009 FIA Formula 2 Championship grid.

Jolyon Palmer was one of four drivers to graduate to F2 from the Formula Palmer Audi Championship. Determined to follow in the footsteps of his father, Jolyon Palmer's racing career began in MiniMax karts in 2004. In 2007 he moved into a single seater when he competed in the UK's Formula Palmer Audi Championship. Jolyon remained in Formula Palmer Audi in 2008, kicking off his season in impressive form with a string of nine consecutive top-five finishes.

We at Comtact salute Jolyon Palmer, and wish him the best of luck in the FIA Formula 2 Championship series; "It is a privileged to be a part of a budding success!"
